Artfacts

Drawings and prints from the collection of the Glarner Kunstverein are being shown in the basement. Markus and Reto Huber have assembled a selection of works from the Print Collection which have not been shown for a long time and are also of interest in the context of their own work. They are showing the works on paper in groups based on form and content-based criteria. The compilations are informed by the duo’s trademark and reveal surprising connections with their own working method. Every day an LED sign in the exhibition also follows the artists’ current status in the international ranking of the website artfacts.net. The variables of this ranking, however, are extremely obscure, and their positioning an unpredictable rollercoaster ride. In this way the artists comment, on a further level, upon the randomness and subjectivity of market and career developments, and analyse the art system, of which they themselves are a part. This engagement with themes related to the politics of art is, along with nature and culture, society and politics, a further reference point in the work of huber.huber.
