The exhibition Kunstschaffen Glarus 2022 (A-L) presents works by forty-one artists, duos and temporary collaborations. Each year, shortly before the start of the new year, an exhibition focusing on local contemporary art production opens at Kunsthaus Glarus. In addition to Heimspiel, a triennial, interregional, and theme-specific exhibition format, the Kunstschaffen Glarus A-L or M-Z exhibition takes place every other year.

A locus of contemporary art production, Kunsthaus Glarus and its program occupy a relevant position in the international exhibition scene. It is a place for art in society as well as a place for engagement. In line with this, the openly formulated conditions of participation of the Kunstschaffen Glarus exhibition represent an important structural feature of this special form of recurring exhibition. The exhibition is non-juried and embraces a democratic principle. The only criteria are that the works be current, the surnames alphabetical, and that there be a “Glarner connection.” The focus of the exhibition’s educational program is on talking about living and working with art, as well as introducing to the public all Glarus-based artists as well as those whose practice is connected to the region. This year, artists with surnames beginning with the letters A-L submitted their portfolios.

During the exhibition, several public discussions will be held between the artists, the team, and Kunsthaus Glarus board members.

We would like to thank the artists, everyone who contributed to the success of this exhibition, as well as the companies and foundations from the region who have enthusiastically supported this project.
